Writing

My latest book, Ferris Bueller…You’re My Hero (1984 Publishing), the making of Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, is available for pre-order. I interviewed Matthew Broderick, Alan Ruck, James Hughes (John’s son) and 122 others for it.

  • My last traditionally-published book was We’re Not Worthy, the history of ’90s TV sketch comedy.
  • You can read 6,500 words of my liner notes in Presenting… Dick Davy, which is also the first vinyl comedy album I’ve produced.
  • I’m the author of seven published books. You can find all my books below or at ComedyBooks.net (you trying getting people to spell my surname).
  • I’m the writer of three produced feature films, including the documentary Lords of Soaptown. I’m also an award-winning short film writer.
  • My short films have been distributed by NBCUniversal and Comedy Central, and I’ve written a pilot and a feature film for the production company of a known comedian.
  • I have written numerous comedy albums for my sketch and improv group, Dan and Jay’s Comedy Hour, which just celebrated 32 years of being something. A third album is coming down the pike.
  • I occasionally blog here.
  • I have a memoir and another nonfiction book being shopped around, and always have a future self-published book in the works.
  • Screenplays and other samples are available by request. Please e-mail me at jason AT stolendress DOT com.
